Hawken Athletics Internships

SAMM

The Student Athletic Management & Media (SAMM) Intern Program will give students an opportunity to work with Hawken’s sports management personnel to gain invaluable experience working at sporting events and in media relations. Interns will assist the athletic director with daily activities associated with running a successful athletic department, including game-day management and digital media programming.

Opportunities available for a student athletic management & media intern:

• Promotions (create, implement, run in-game promotions)

• PA announcer (boxcast live broadcast, game day announcers)

• Digital media (content creation, social media posts, IG stories, Photoshop)

• Film (games, sidelines, edit monthly YouTube highlights, short docs)

• Game management (clock operation, tickets, stats, field setup)

All members of the SAMM internship program are responsible for successfully completing six events in game management. Once these are completed and approved by an advisor of the program, the student is then eligible to be paid for future game management tasks and responsibilities.

SATA

The Student Athletic Training Aide program (SATA) gives students an opportunity to work with the sports medicine personnel to gain invaluable experience working on the sidelines of sporting events and practices. They will assist the athletic trainer with daily activities of running a successful athletic training room and program. SATAs will be able to work with team physicians when they are at school seeing different athletes. Also, there is a possibility for SATAs to go in clinic and surgeries with doctors.
