Matt Streeter is widely considered the best Hawken Boys Cross Country runner in history to date, with tremendous accolades in track & field as well. He remains Hawken?s only individual boys state champion in cross country. He qualified for the Class A Cross Country State Meet as a junior, finishing the individual qualifiers race in twelfth place. His senior year, he set the school record en route to the 1982 Class A state title, helping the Hawks to a third-place team finish. In track & field, Matt teamed-up to break the school record in the 4 x 800-meter relay as a junior, and that relay team went on to win the state championship in 1982. With Matt as anchor in his senior year, that relay team finished fifth in the state in 1983. Matt was All-State in cross country and track & field and was an Old Board winner in both sports.
