Baseball: One for the Ages

Baseball: One for the Ages

The hawken baseball team had a historic run in the Div III State tournament. The Hawks previously played in the regional tournament in 1985, 1995, and 1996, but it wasn't until 2022 that they advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history.  They ended this notable year as Div III region runner up.

They battled through state playoffs winning the sectional title and district title over very strong opponents.  The team went 19-6 overall this season with a record of 9-3 in the cvc chagrin division.   Great pitching, stellar defense and timely hitting helped the hawks throughout the momentous season.  Dom Brancel '23 was named to Ohio Scholastic Baseball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) Honorable Mention All State Catcher, along with 1st team CVC.  Pitchers Devin Anthony '22 (2nd team CVC) and Lucas Brandt '24 (2nd team CVC) held opposing teams to a mere (waiting for stats). Lucas Brandt set a school record in ERA this year with a .39 era.
